about
I'm a procrastinator when it comes to songs anymore. I'm always playing and writing and recording, but never finishing. I used to finish an album in a weekend, but that was when I had more to say on a singer/songwriter level. I don't work that way now. I'm about sounds and what sorts of emotions those songs convey.
This brings me to this, "Drones I-III". I'd started collecting and mixing tracks I'd had on the hard drive of my ancient Korg D-1600. I wanted to release a collection of these instrumental tracks. I wasn't sure there was any sort of cohesiveness to them, but I knew they were good enough to set out into the world. But as I listened I heard a commonality with a few of the tracks. There were at least three in the key of "D", so I ran with it. I wanted to make a longer piece with these songs. Not an album, but a mini-suite. Something that would keep a mind occupied for 15 to 20 minutes. 'Drones I-III' is the result.
This track is free for you to do as you wish. It's my attempt at giving the world art in a time when we need art more than ever. I'm very proud of this piece. I hope you find some enjoyment or solace from it.
